How to find your iPad model number
iPad Pilot News
If you’re shopping for a mount or kneeboard you’ll quickly have to answer the question, “which iPad do I have?” It’s not always as simple as it might sound, so if you’re not sure which model you have, you’re not alone. Please note that we loathe the naming convention Apple has chosen for the iPads as much as you do. It’s difficult to be sure which iPad you have but if you need to look that information up here’s how to do so.
Find your Model Name or Number
The easiest way to determine your iPad model is to go to the Settings app > General > About. You’ll see the friendly name (eg, iPad mini 6, iPad Pro (11-inch)) on the line labeled Model Name. This is a recent addition to iOS, so if you don’t see this option you may be on an older version of iOS.
If your Model name isn’t showing, or if you want to know exactly which iPad you have (beyond just the name), go down a line to the Model Number line. You’ll probably see something like MTFL2LL/A at first, which doesn’t help much. This is the Part Number, but what you really want is the Model Number (no, we aren’t joking, it really is this complicated). To see that, simply tap on the line:
