While digital charts initially made the iPad popular with pilots, in-flight weather has rapidly become one of the most important features. The ability to view NEXRAD radar, METARs, TAFs, PIREPs and so much more on a large touchscreen device has made flying both safer and easier, and devices like the Stratus 3 and Sentry are considered essential equipment for many pilots.
These devices do require some training if they’re to be used properly, though. That makes an upcoming webinar a great opportunity to enhance your knowledge of datalink weather tools and become a better “weather geek” in all phases of flight. Air Facts Editor and weather guru John Zimmerman will be hosting a webinar this week covering a variety of topics, including:
- Recent weather accident statistics and causes
- Five key weather flying rules for all pilots to know
- How ADS-B and SiriusXM receivers work
- Tips for avoiding three key weather hazards (IMC, thunderstorms, ice)
- Real world scenarios showing weather tools in action
This is a fast-paced, practical webinar that focuses on using the latest technology on real world trips. There will also be time for questions at the end. The online presentation is Thursday, March 7 at 8pm eastern, and while it’s free to attend, registration is required. Sign up today.
