Illinois Valley Regional Airport (KVYS), also known as Walter A. Duncan Field in Peru, Ill., hosted a TBM reunion April 16. According to Albert Dyer, who sent in these photos, “Perfect weather welcomed the 10 TBMs that made Illinois Valley home for the weekend. Many other historic military aircraft also made the flight, as well as dozens of antique civilian aircraft.”
“Aviation enthusiasts young and old flew or drove in,” Dyer said, adding “it was a family event.”
“After a long winter in the Midwest, it felt good to walk among all the aircraft, talk to the pilots and take photos of these wonderful historic aircraft,” he concluded.

Some kids needed to stand up in the seat to be able to see their parents.

Such a relaxed environment, no cones or ropes kept people away. Everyone was so respectful of the aircraft.

With perfect weather young and old came out to learn and for some to remember.

Planting the aviation seed. Many, many pilots were putting kids in the seats of their aircraft.
